Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) is a locally owned and managed healthcare system based in Johnson City, Tennessee.  
 
Today, MSHA is integrated both vertically and horizontally and is the largest regional healthcare system with 14 hospitals. MSHA provides an integrated, comprehensive continuum of care to people in 29 counties in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Each hospital is fully accredited, most by The Joint Commission.

News - SWVTC 2012 Awards Banquet

The Southwestern Virginia Technology Council's annual awards banquet is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College, Abingdon. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with reception and tech expo, followed by music, dinner, door prizes, keynote speakers, and culminates with the presentation of the SWVTC High Tech awards for 2012.  This year the banquet has been moved from Spring to Autumn of the year to bring attention to ourselves as we join our Commonwealth in concentrating on the Entrepreneur.  This event has been recognized as THE networking event in southwestern Virginia.

According to Dr. Stan Botts, Jr, President of the Southwestern Virginia Technology Council, “To commemorate our 13 year anniversary of expanding technology use in Southwest Virginia, we have planned an excellent evening that you will not want to miss.  Virginia’s Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Jim Cheng, will be here along with four of our former winners to help us celebrate the ‘Year of the Entrepreneur’.    Local delegates, as well as many state, regional, and national technology leaders will be with us for this event.  We invite you to come and find out how SWVTC is promoting math and science through space travel in Virginia, First Robotics Competition, Team America Rocket Competition and more. There will be great food, upbeat music, and interesting company; something for everyone to enjoy."

Awards will be presented in seven categories: High Tech Innovation in Economic Development, High Tech Small Business and Entrepreneur, High Tech in Education, High Tech in Government, High Tech in Innovation, the 2011 President's Award, and High Tech in Green Technology.  Awards are currently being accepted.  Self nominations are also encouraged!!

Individual tickets are available for $90.Corporate table sponsorship, which includes six seats and recognition at the banquet, is $500.  Exhibit space is $200, or may be combined with a table sponsorship for $550. Event sponsorship is available.

Event Sponsors so far include:  Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), Alpha Natural Resources, Verizon, The University of Virginia's College at Wise, Crutchfield Corporation, Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center CPC Optinet (BVU), and the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator.

The Tech Council is currently seeking nominations for these awards as well as sponsorships.

The Southwestern Virginia Technology Council was organized in 1999. The Council exists to lead Southwestern Virginians in addressing technology issues for business, education and government with the purpose of enhancing the vitality and social well-being of Southwestern Virginia. Council membership includes businesses, institutions and individuals from the Wytheville region to the far western corner of Virginia.
